SCULPTRA AND BELLAFILL
Sculptra
It is a new form of injectable composed of Poly-L-lactic- acid, that is broken down by the body and absorbed. It is used to combat aging including wrinkles and sagging skin by stimulating the skin to produce collagen. As a result it will restore fullness and plumpness to your skin. It is used as an alternative to dermal fillers, skin creams and fat injections and implants.
What is collagen?
Collagen is a structural protein found in the connective tissue within your skin. It functions to keep your skin firm and smooth and provides the look of youthfulness. As you age, your body's collagen production decreases bringing about wrinkles and sagging skin. In addition to fat loss in the cheeks or anywhere beneath the skin, you would end up with sagging skin, hollowed cheeks and indentations around the temples making you look older.
In this case, Sculptra can stimulate your skin to regrow its own natural collagen over a period of time. This can help combat the effects of fat loss as you age by giving you a firmer younger looking skin.
Sculptra requires multiple treatment (minimum of 3 treatment sessions over a period of several months–but this can vary from person to person especially with age. The effects can last up to 2 years.
Bellafill
It is a compound composed of microspheres called polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) suspended within a smooth collagen gel. It works immediately, once injected. Over a period of time, the microspheres are used by the body as a scaffold onto which your body would start to build its own natural collagen.
The collagen that is formed, serves as the foundation to which the body ultimately adds volume to wrinkles creating a youthful appearance.
Bellafill works to soften and smoothen out wrinkles up to 5 years.
With these specific treatments it is best to avoid any type of anti-inflammatory medications including NSAIDs–aspirin, Advil, Motrin, ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aleve etc. along with omega-3 supplementation including flaxseed oil and fish oils, and vitamin E.
